If I was a piece of furniture...

I'd be a bookcase--yes, I would--because I love books. I've been surrounded by them for the last 20 years, first as an English major, then as a publishing house employee, and now as a home school teacher. Over the past ten years, I've read a lot of how-to books: how to cook, how to clean, how to raise children, how to raise crops, and so on, but this year I've collected a stack of reads I'm trusting will aid me in pursing God and loving my neighbor.

In no particular order, here's my starting line-up for 2011:

Generous Justice: How God's Grace Makes Us Just, Timothy Keller

God's Mighty Acts in Salvation, Starr Meade

Hey there! The internet makes the world small. I'll e-mail you privately so you know who I am exactly! But I enjoyed discovering your blog. You seem to be a woman of depth and substance. I also just posted on my blog about books I have read and am reading this year. Loved perusing your list! Thanks for sharing! If I were furniture I'd be a bookcase too!! I sometimes get discouraged at how many people don't seem to read today. Or they only read fluffy, light fiction and never anything deeper.

Me too! Me too! A bookshelf. Perfect. Love your list. I'm planning to post one this week too. I always want to read way more than I can actually digest in a year. So... I'm narrowing it down to what I really need. Just picked up the Bonhoffer biography - thank you Grandpa Cronbaugh :)

Good one! If I were a piece of furniture, I would want to be a bookcase, too.

If I were an electronic gadget, I would be a Kindle (not that I have one). Hmm...

Happy New Year!
